The Pan

The Frying pan that stopped us cooking ourselves.

In Australia, 79% of all cancers diagnosed are skin cancer related. To help make the citizens of The Sunburnt Country aware of the dangers of cooking themselves, we built the world’s largest frying pan for Sculpture by the Sea, the world’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition.

Our sculpture was voted in the top 5 for both The People’s Choice Prize and The Children’s Prize. It sparked further interest when it was featured on the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald. And then gained international attention when it hit the front page of The Telegraph in London and became photo of the day in The Los Angeles Times.

More importantly, our work became a symbol of sun safety for millions of sunbathers around the world.
